Compare the value of a longer stay

For a stay of several months, compare the space and standard you get, not only the nightly rate. Compare a hotel or serviced apartment quote with a Westprecinct managed serviced residence for a 3 to 12 month stay, as an estimate for approvals and budgets.

Frequently asked questions

What does this comparison show?

It sets a hotel or serviced apartment quote beside a Westprecinct managed serviced residence for the same length of stay, so you can see the total cost and the space you have for it. It is an estimate for approvals and budgets, not a quote. Ask us for a quote for your dates.

How is the equivalent daily rate worked out?

It is the weekly rate for a 6 to 12 month stay, divided by seven. Higher rates may apply for under 6 months, so for a shorter stay, ask us for a quote for your dates and enter that weekly rate in the calculator.

Why does the example use two hotel rooms?

A family, or two colleagues travelling together, often needs two hotel rooms to have separate bedrooms. The worked examples compare two rooms at the published average with one two-bedroom residence. Two standard rooms usually give less total space, with no separate living area or full kitchen, so the difference shown is conservative. A suite or serviced apartment of similar size usually costs more than the average. If you have a quote for one, enter the nightly rate for the whole apartment instead.

Where do the hotel figures come from?

They are the 2025 full-year average room rates for Sydney and Melbourne, from CBRE Hotels' Australia Overview and Outlook. The averages cover all hotel standards, so a room of a similar standard, or one with water views, may cost more. You can replace the average with any rate you have been quoted.

What else should I compare besides the nightly rate?

Ask whether the rate holds through major events and whether any dates are blocked out. Compare the size of each apartment, any nightly charges such as parking, and whether there is a kitchen and laundry for a longer stay. Westprecinct has no blackout dates, and the rate stays the same for the whole stay.

How long can a stay be?

Sydney stays start from around three months. Melbourne stays are 30 days and beyond. Longer stays are by arrangement, subject to availability and the guest terms. Higher rates may apply for under 6 months.

Can I use these figures in an approval or budget request?

Yes, as an estimate. For a figure to put in a formal approval, ask us for a written quote for your dates and the residence you have in mind.
