Who comes and when

From Japan: March to August

When summer heat and humidity settle over Tokyo and Osaka, Melbourne moves into its cooler months: crisp mornings, clear afternoons and golf all year round, only one to two hours from Japan time.

From Korea: December to February, and July

While Seoul is in deep winter, Sydney and Melbourne are in summer, with long days for golf in Melbourne and the harbour at its best in Sydney. In the January and July school holidays, many families spend a month in Melbourne, and stays here start at 30 days.

From Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia: June to August

Melbourne’s winter brings cool, clear days away from the heat and humidity at home, with galleries, restaurants and sport close by and a time difference of only two to three hours.

From the Gulf: June to August

While the Gulf summer is at its hottest, Melbourne offers cool air, green parks and the bay, with the residence ready for the whole family.

From the UK, Ireland and Europe: December to February

During the darkest months at home, Sydney and Melbourne are in summer: long evenings, harbour ferries, bay beaches and the cricket.

From Canada and the United States: December to February

Trade snow and ice for a season by the water, with stays long enough to settle in properly.

Golf on the Melbourne Sandbelt

South-east of the city lies the Melbourne Sandbelt, a stretch of sandy country home to eight championship courses, including Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, Victoria, Metropolitan and Yarra Yarra. Many sit within a few kilometres of one another, and from a residence in Brighton they are a short drive away. That’s close enough for an early tee time and a long lunch afterwards.

The Sandbelt clubs are private members’ clubs. Visitors who belong to a recognised golf club at home are welcome to ask about tee times, with a letter of introduction and handicap confirmation from their home club. For an easier round, there are well-kept public courses nearby.

Beyond the fairways. the bay beaches and Brighton’s bathing boxes, Chapel Street and High Street Armadale, the galleries, and day trips to the Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley.

Sydney in summer

For guests escaping a northern winter, summer is the season to be in Sydney. There are morning swims, ferries across the harbour, long evenings in Balmain and Barangaroo, and New Year’s Eve over the water. Sydney stays begin at three months, which suits guests who plan to spend the whole summer.

The sporting year

Sydney and Melbourne host some of the world’s great sporting events, and Brisbane and Adelaide are a short flight from your residence. This is how the year falls.

Summer: December to February

What a season here needs

Ready when you land. Sheridan bed linen, bath towels and a welcome pack are ready on arrival, and the residence is cleaned to The Westprecinct Standard before you arrive.

A real kitchen. Cook with what you find at the market and keep a proper pantry for the months you are here.

Room to settle. Separate living and sleeping spaces, a dining table and room to unpack properly, rather than living out of a suitcase.

Cleaning when you want it. Cleaning during your stay is optional and can be arranged on request.

Close to what you came for. Each residence sits in an established suburb, near cafés, parks, transport and the water, so everyday life is easy from the first week.

One point of contact. One team looks after the residence for the length of your stay, so anything that needs attention is handled for you.

Before you travel

Your visa. Most seasonal guests arrive on a visitor visa. Many visitor visas allow stays of up to three months per visit, and some are granted for longer. Please check the length of stay on your visa before you book, and we will match your dates to it.

The time difference. Depending on the time of year, Tokyo and Seoul are one to two hours behind Sydney and Melbourne; Hong Kong, Taipei and Singapore two to three; Dubai six to seven; London and Paris eight to eleven; and New York 14 to 16.

Arranging it all from home. Tell us your arrival date and we will have the residence ready for you.
